Frequently Asked
What is the maximum Character count on German License Plates?
While regular European License Plates have a maximum of 9 characters, I am able to print up to 15 letters or numbers using a smaller font on all Custom Euro Plates.
How much is a Custom European License Plate?
All my Custom German License Plates are $44 no matter what color or how many letters. Mounting Frames and Screws are optional.
How fast do you ship my Euro Plate?
Most orders will ship by UPS Ground or USPS Priority Mail daily.
You may also choose UPS Next Day Air and UPS 2 Day which are shown and calculated at Checkout based on your ZIP Code.
Please note my daily cutoff time is 3PM Eastern Time. Orders received after that time will ship the next business day.
What is the quality of your Custom German Plates like?
I use the same premium aluminum license plate blanks as a license plate shop in Germany. Each German Plate is pressed and the color is hot stamped for durability.
What size are European Plates?
All European License Plates are standardized 20.5 x 4.5 inches or 520 x 110 mm.
Will your Custom Euro Plates fit my vehicle?
All you need is two holes in your front bumper to safely attach one of our mounting frames with screws. Buying an optional frame saves you from drilling holes into the Custom Euro Plate. If your car does not have holes in the front bumper please get help from a local dealership.
What does the D stand for on a German license plate?
The D is the Country Code for Deutschland / Germany. The code D is embedded in the blue side bar underneath the circled yellow stars representing the European Union Flag.
Other European Countries have their respective letter shown, A for Austria, F for France, NL for the Netherlands etc.
What does a German plate look like?
Standard Euro License Plates have black letters on white reflective background using a forgery-impeding typeface. Its letters and numbers are disproportionate to avoid simple modification. The german plate number is printed next to the blue band including the 12 euro stars and the country code D underneath.
How do you read the codes on German License Plates?
The first one to three letters represents the city or county the vehicle is registered in, followed by the inspection and registrations stickers and finally the serial number containing 1-2 letters and 1-4 numbers. A german plate from Berlin would read B-XY 1234.
More in-depth information about the History of German Plates and German License Plate Codes can be found here in this fantastic article on Wikipedia.
Can I have personalized US state Euro license plates?
Yes! You can personalize your US state Euro license plate by choosing specific letter-number combinations (up to 14 characters total after the state code). We replicate authentic European formatting with American state identity.
How to read a US state Euro license plate?
Reading left to right:
Blue EU stripe with state code → Personalized Letter-Number Combination.
For example, "TX-AB 1234" indicates a Texas plate, "CA-XYZ 789" indicates California, and so on. European format with American state codes.
What are the rules for US state Euro plates?
US state Euro plates follow the European format: State code in EU blue band + personalized letters/numbers (maximum 14 characters combined). Plates measure 520mm × 110mm and use the official FE-Schrift font used across the European Union.
Are customized US state Euro plates legal for front display?
If you're in one of the 19 no-front-plate states (FL, TX, AZ, GA, NC, PA, and more), display your custom US state Euro plates confidently on your front bumper. In states requiring official front plates, use them as decorative showpieces only.
Can you use European plates in the US?
No. European plates (German M/S codes, French F, Italian I) cannot replace official US state plates on public roads. The rear plate must be state-issued. However, custom EU-inspired design for front plates is okay to use in these 31 states (AZ, FL, GA, IN, KS, KY, LA, MI, MN, MS, MO, MT, ND, NE, NM, NY, NC, OH, OK, PA, SC, TN, UT, WV, WI + DC).
Why are some European license plates yellow?
Yellow plates stem from the rear visibility tradition. The UK uses yellow plates with white fronts, France had yellow rears (phasing out since the 2000s), while the Netherlands and Luxembourg run all-yellow plates front-to-back. Yellow provided better contrast against red taillights at night compared to white. Post-1994 EU standardization pushed most countries toward white-only plates, though Sweden and Malta still offer yellow as an option.
Why are our US European license plates different?
Our US EU plates use the real EU size (20.5 x 4.5 inches / 520 x 110 mm) with premium aluminum blanks, hot-stamped letters, blue "D" EU stripe, and city codes (e.g., M=Munich), way closer to authentic than cheap plastic fakes. But we amp it up with up to 14 customizable characters (vs. EU's 9 max) via smaller fonts, plus US options like state flags or frames. Still decorative only, made for car enthusiasts.
